Standards for Climate: Uptake of Nature-based solutions in urban and rural areas (Online)
Online 13:00 - 18:00
The consequences of climate change are increasingly felt across the world. Nature-based solutions, which consists of using natural resources to tackle environmental challenges, have an enormous (and still relatively unexplored) potential to reduce the impact of such disasters, while simultaneously providing environmental, social, and economic benefits and helping build resilience.
CEN and CENELEC are strongly committed to contributing to the achievements of the Paris Agreement and the UN SDGs supporting the international climate agenda, as laid out in the London Declaration signed by the standardization community early 2022. Standardization has a key role to play in reinforcing a wider uptake of nature-based solutions in urban and rural areas, by providing tools to key players to achieve a successful green transition and supporting European policy ambitions for a greener and climate neutral European economy.
To fully comprehend and benefit from the multiple potentials of nature-based solutions in tackling environmental challenges, European stakeholders need standards that can provide a common approach that enables trust, quality and coherence across sectors and applications.
For this reason, CEN and CENELEC are happy to invite you to an online stakeholders’ workshop that will identify the cross-sectoral gaps and opportunities for the development of new standards to support the uptake of nature-based solutions in urban and rural areas and achievement of global climate objectives. The exchanges will focus on 3 priority areas for European standardization:
- Green & Blue Infrastructure
- Construction & Building
- Land-use & Soil
FOR YOU: This workshop is targeted to:
- Industry stakeholders, including SMEs
