Parties are invited to submit thematic reports on the issues to be considered in depth at meetings of the Conference of the Parties of the Convention on Biological Diversity. Each thematic report is on a different topic and is a one-time-only report.

The objective of national reporting, as specified in Article 26 of the Convention on Biological Diversity, is to provide information on measures taken for the implementation of the Convention and the effectiveness of these measures.

Parties are requested to submit periodic reports to the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity. These reports serve to establish the degree of CBD implementation among the different Parties.

National reports are requested every four years. They synthesise national action in all areas
